Video game characters are about as varied as the games themselves. They range all the way from abstract, 2D, personality-less avatars like Pac-Man to photorealistic, believable human beings exploring meticulously designed game worlds, like Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2. Creating a single character can involve the combined effort of character designers, narrative designers, and 3D modelers, to name a few. Remember that each hero, villain, or wacky sidekick on this list took a village to fully realize, and the way they all enrich their games is no accident.
